The Hard Man, Johnny Dexter, made his first appearance in the inaugural issue of the weekly Roy of the Rovers comic on September 25, 1976. Known for his rough playing style and quick temper that frequently led to clashes with referees, Johnny began his career with Danefield United before transferring to Real Granpala in Spain. It was at Real Granpala that he crossed paths with Hungarian manager Viktor Boskovic, who later joined him at Danefield upon his return.
