After becoming trapped while potholing, brothers Gary and Tim Slater emerge to discover that Britain has been devastated by a nuclear attack, with only a handful of survivors left. In their search for their father, they enlist the help of Lord Drago of Drax Manor, an eccentric survivor, who lends them a steam traction engine to journey to London.
