Private James Green enlisted in the Commandos in 1942 with hopes of achieving personal glory and earning medals. However, his ambitions were quickly overshadowed by his resentment towards Private John Bold, whose selfless bravery and likable personality clashed with Green’s own ego. Green made it his mission to outshine Bold at every turn, but his envy only grew when Bold was promoted to Corporal.
